Conducting laboratory research with the primary objective of identifying practical applications to improve patient care (this is what translational research is). Taking full advantage of synergies within the EOC’s facilities, also thanks to its group leaders, who balance their work between research laboratories and patient care in hospital.
Aiming to use innovative and cutting-edge techniques, with a common focus on the regeneration of organs and tissues, in a number of fields, from cardiology in the repair of post-infraction damage, to neurology in countering cell death in illnesses such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, to orthopaedics in replacing damaged cartilage with biological materials taken directly from patients. These are the guidelines on which the Laboratories for Translational Research of the Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale (LRT-EOC) base their activities.
